Wednesday evening of this week we will be continuing our weekly Children and Youth Ministry programs, as well as the regular prayer and Bible study time for adults. As you pray, please remember the children and youth who are active in our Wednesday night program. Pray for their parents, school teachers, and teachers here at Pleasant Grove.
The younger children will be focusing their study on The Whole Armor of God. As the new year begins this might be a good time for all of us to review and focus on this particular scripture during our daily study time. The rest of this article is quoted from E. M. Bounds in his book The Necessity of Prayer.
The description of the Christian soldier given by Paul in the sixth chapter of the Epistle to the Ephesians is compact and comprehensive. He is depicted a being ever in the conflict, which has many fluctuating seasons, seasons of prosperity and adversity, light and darkness, victory and defeat.
The Christian soldier is to “put on the whole armor of God” (Ephesians 6:11), and unceasing prayer is to be added to the armor in which he is to march forth to battle. “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit” (Ephesians 6:18) is the Divine direction given him….
It is no surprise to find Paul, who understood the character of the Christian life so well and who was so thoroughly informed as to the the malignant nature and number of the foes that the disciple of the Lord must encounter, carefully and plainly urging believers to “put on the whole armor of God” and to “pray with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit.”
