Pastor Reveals More Details of Challenge

posted by Pastor Jonathan

In the month of November, I am challenging as many as are willing and able to take… The 30-Day Spiritual Challenge!

In God’s Word, many of God’s people, including Jesus Himself, spent a month or more in intense spiritual devotion to God. Don’t you think we as a church might do the same? This will be much more special if we all would consider doing this. The following is a list of spiritual exercises for the 30 Day Spiritual Challenge:

  • Bible Study: Read God’s Word daily. Morning or night, lunch break or afternoon break. Seven days a week, including Sunday.
  • Fellowship: Attend all Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Services, unless there’s a family gathering or preplanned engagement.
  • Giving: Give the Lord exactly as He commands you personally this month. Give cheerfully; give unto the Lord alone, not according to your feelings about the church.
  • Evangelism: Weekly, give an evangelistic tract to someone (5 tracts total). As you go about your normal routine, sow some seeds for the Lord. Tracts will be provided for you!
  • Meditation: Memorize a meaningful portion of Scripture. Let this be a verse, or paragraph, or possibly an entire chapter of some book that you would love to “hide in your heart”.
  • Prayer: Pray daily for at least 5 minutes. As you pray, consider the Spirit and pray as He leads you asking “what is on your heart Lord”. Pray for the health and growth of our church as part of your prayer time.
  • Fasting: Once this month take a break from a day’s eating. If you are taking medicine, or are medically unable to fast, fast from some activity in place of food.Let the Lord lead you in how to make this day meaningful by leaving out something from your day that you don’t need and would good to fast from.

First Fall Family Fun Fantastic

posted by Lane Lester

Over 60 children, youth, and adults turned out for PGBC’s Fall Family Fun Night. We started with a hot dog supper loaded with extra goodies and great desserts.

Entertainment was provided by David and Peggy Whitehead who thrilled the little ones with balloon creations. Later they produced balloon flowers for some of the adults.

Another attraction that was supposedly just for the young was a huge slide. Before the evening was over, some seniors took the plunge. A hayride completed the evening’s fun.
