Our attendance for Spring Out is fluctuating right around the “40” mark at present. A few new children, youth and adults attended this past Wednesday, but some regulars were away due to sickness and other commitments.

Thanks to Nancy Smith and Gilma Cromer, we enjoyed a great chili supper with a variety of homemade brownies for dessert.

Again, we encourage each of you to join us on Wednesday evenings for this very casual family time in the life of our church.

About forty individuals turned out for our second Wednesday night of Spring Out! The weather was just right and a lot of energy used up on soccer, basketball, swinging, and sliding. Keith and Melanie Tumlin and Glenda Weaver took care of the hunger produced by all the activity by providing a hearty hot dog supper.

We encourage more adults to join us on Wednesday evenings, if not for the activities, at least for the evening meal and fellowship.

Pastor Jonathan and David Black are teaching a very informative class on finances at 7:00 p.m.. The youth are meeting with Steve McLeroy in the Fellowship Hall and the children meet with Amy Tolbert and Rhonda Black downstairs in the church.

A vital heartbeat of our church is our telephone prayer chain. Not everyone is “ high tech” or “on line,” but just about everyone has a telephone. This week in the life of our church body the prayer chain has been very busy with prayer needs and praises. If you are enrolled in Sunday School, unless you request otherwise, you are listed on the church prayer chain. If you are not on it and would like to be, speak to your Sunday School teacher or the pastor.

Spring Out! will begin this coming Wed­nesday. I have to admit that I’m a little nervous and at the same time excited to see how we are going to work alongside  God in this mission adventure for our church and community. I know at some point in a month or two, I will be fixing one of the Wed­nesday night meals, but what will God have me doing this first Wednesday?

I know I can help with homework, but what else? Even thought I don’t know what God has for me, I will be at Spring Out! this Wednesday. The next three days I’m asking you to please pray for our Spring Out! emphasis, the workers, and the  families we hope to reach. The title of the 2007 North American Mission Emphasis is “Change Your World,” and I am very excited that at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church that is exactly our mission.
